About MTC
Mbarali and Neighbours Small Scale Farmers Company (MTC) is a rice farmers’ owned company located in Mbarali District, Mbeya Region. Established with the support of Norges Vel, the company was legally registered in 2018 to empower farmers through collective investment and improved market access.
MTC started with 35 founding members from 11 Farmer Organisations (FOs) who became shareholders by purchasing shares. Over time, the number of farmer-shareholders has continued to grow, strengthening the company’s foundation.
The company began with a small warehouse but has since expanded, now operating a larger warehouse with a capacity of 4500MT. This growth has significantly improved storage capacity, ensuring better post-harvest loss management and market accessibility for farmers produce.
